Multicultural Care - Lisa Tribuzio and Niki Rittinghausen (Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing)

Today, we have an interesting conversation about an often overlooked subject in aged care - cultural diversity. We're delighted to be joined by two guests from the Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing, Lisa Tribuzio and Nikki Rittinghausen.

A lot of this conversation focuses on how interpreting, translating and language appropriate resources are essential for linguistically diverse older adults, both in home care and residential care.

With a third of older adults in Australia coming from non-English speaking backgrounds, isolation, exclusion and miscommunication due to language are consistent obstacles to overcome when delivering care and you’ll hear Lisa share some of the challenges her grandparents faced in living and ageing in Australia with English as a second language.
